For over 40 years, Switchboard of Miami has been answering the calls for those in crisis. Last year at Switchboard, we answered the call for more than 180,000 callers in their time of need. As you might imagine it takes a lot of work and extra financial support in order to continue to be that light that guides our community through our most vulnerable moments. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to connect with people in need.  :: That’s why we so desperately need your help.

To help you understand why there is such a need for your  help, here’s the story of “Maria” (not her real name) one of the many people helped by Switchboard.

 
Maria, a successful business owner, was devastated by the financial scourge visited by the economy. She lost everything; her marriage, her livelihood, her house, her possessions, and her self identity. Maria decided that a Switchboard counselor would be the last person she spoke to, before ending her own life.

With Switchboard’s help, Maria was empowered to rebuild her life. Today, Maria’s using her second chance to live life to the fullest and help others along the way. Switchboard is here for many more Marias,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
